Rahat, aide pay fine of `15 lakhs
Top Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and his manager Maroof on Monday paid the fine of `15 lakhs each in connection with the recovery of undeclared foreign currency in their possession. The fine was paid late in the evening following which the duo was free to leave the country after collecting their travel documents, which had earlier been seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
According to sources, Rahat and Maroof approached the customs officials at the Airport, where they paid the total fine amount of `30 lakhs, late in the evening. Their passport is with the DRI officials and, once they collected them, the duo could leave the country at any moment they feel like, sources added.
Rahat and Maroof paid the fine with the customs authorities.
