Ragpicker kills 3-year-old girl to settle scores
In a ghastly incident, a ragpicker has allegedly murdered a three-year-old girl named Renuka to settle scores with her parents. The incident happened near the Nayudupeta railway station , Nellore in Andhra Pradesh on Friday.
The drunk killer took away the sleeping girl from her home near the railway station. He killed her by hitting her on the head with bricks and also strangled her with a wire.
CI Manikya Rao said the killer Babu, 24, of Bihar and the victim’s family knew each other when they were living in the Bodigadithota area of Nellore a few years back.
The couple had kept Babu away as he told the police that he had kept some stolen money with them about six months back. Irked at this, Babu returned to Nayudupeta on Friday to settle scores. Soni told Babu that he is unwelcome at their home once again when she stumbled upon him near a wine shop at Nayudupeta on Friday.
Angered by her warning, he took away the 3-year-old girl Renuka when she was sleeping in the house late on Friday night. Soni alerted neighbours when Renuka raised an alarm after Babu lifted her from the bed.
However, Babu managed to escape in the darkness and killed the girl near the railway quarters. Locals alerted police when they found him sleeping next to the dead body of the girl on Saturday morning. Relatives of the girl caught the accused after a hot chase.
Mr Manikya Rao said that Babu had attacked two other persons, with whom he had drinks on Friday night, following a petty quarrel before he took away the girl. He said that they had taken him into custody and had sent the body of the child for postmortem.
