Getting increasingly aggressive by the day, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday questioned the Samajwadi Party’s commitment towards Muslims.

Addressing a rally in Ambedkar Nagar, Mr Gandhi said, “Mulayam Singh says he will give 18 per cent reservation to Muslims if voted to power. He knows this is not possible due to a Supreme Court ceiling, but this is an election time and he will promise you the moon. If you ask him, he will even promise to change the colour of the sky to green or yellow if voted to power.”
Mr Gandhi continued his attack on the SP leader and said that Mr Singh had been the chief minister of UP thrice but had never bothered to give reservation to Muslims and now that the Congress has given 4.5 per cent reservation to backward Muslims, he is saying it is insufficient. The Congress MP said during the Mulayam Singh regime, the Centre had sent foodgrains under the public distribution system but it did not reach the poor. “And now he promises to change Uttar Pradesh,” he added.
