Punjab schools impart karate training to girl students

With an aim to build confidence and promote the art of self defence among girls, government schools in Punjab have started imparting karate training to students of upper primary classes.

Under the first phase of this programme, 49,792 girl students from across the state were selected for the training in self defence, an official of Punjab School Education Department said here on Monday.

The training is also being carried out in schedule caste concentrated schools in every districts, he said.
