Pune murder: Accused techie gets shield against arrest

Anushree Kundra, the 30-year-old techie who allegedly set on fire her ex-boyfriend's fiancee at an apartment in Maharashtra on Octoer 13 and was absconding since then, has been granted anticipatory bail by the Delhi High Court.

Justice Mukta Gupta granted relief to Kundra on Friday and said: "She (Anushree Kundra) will not be arrested for the next four days."

The victim, Juhi Prasad, 26, a Delhi-based lawyer, was visiting her 27-year-old fiance Nimesh Sinha when she was set on fire in New Market Plaza in Wanavadi near Pune. Juhi succumbed to her injuries 10 days after the incident.

Prasad was related to Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

Justice Gupta directed Kundra to appear before a court in Pune after the expiry of her anticipatory bail.

"Juhi suffered more than 90 per cent burns, while Nimesh, Kundra's former lover who later got engaged with the victim lawyer, survived with minor burns," said the prosecution.

Kundra was allegedly angry after she came to know about Sinha's engagement to Prasad and went to his Pune residence and had a verbal duel with them on the issue.

"Later, she allegedly set the two (Sinha and Prasad) on fire while they were asleep," said the prosecution.

In the bail application filed on Thursday, Kundra claimed she was implicated and there was an attempt to kill her but she escaped.

Kundra's lawyer alleged that Sinha wanted to kill both Prasad and Kundra.
