Principal molests girls, suspended
The principal of a government school has been suspended for allegedly molesting girl students in Hamirpur district.
S.R. Verma, the principal of Chandpurwa Madhyamik Vidyalaya, had been molesting some girl students of Class 8 since the past several months. He had threatened them with dire consequences if they reported the matter to anyone.
Mr Verma was finally suspended after a girl and her parents approached the school authorities on Saturday and informed them about the principal’s conduct.
An official immediately conducted an inquiry and received several complaints against the principal from other girl students as well.

Satphones for jawans on Pak border

March 6: BSF jawans deployed along the Indo-Pak border will now stay connected through satellite phone provided by the government of India. The minister of state for communication and IT Sachin Pilot said 65 satellite phones will be provided to the BSF along the international border for the personal positioned in remote areas.
Addressing a function at Nokha under border district of Bikaner in Rajasthan, Mr Pilot said such satellite phones will be help in remote areas having no tower for communication. He was speaking at a function after handing over four satellite phones to BSF inspector-general (Bikaner sector) K.L. Meena.

Tigress killed, eaten by other tigress in MP
Bhopal, March 6: A tigress was killed and eaten by another tigress after a territorial fight in Madhya Pradesh’s Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, officials said.
The carcass of the nine-year-old tigress Laxmi, who also had two cubs, was recovered from Salatekari area at Tala Range of the Reserve, in Umaria district on Saturday, a top forest official said.
Laxmi was killed and eaten by another tigress named Kankati (4), after a possible fight over territory, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve’s field director C.K. Patil said, adding, Kankati had sustained an eye injury. —PTI

Liquor drinking competition turns fatal for 2
Salem (TN), March 6: A competition between two friends to consume the maximum amount of liquor within one hour turned fatal for them as both collapsed and died here, the police said on Sunday.
The police said Jayaprakash (35) and Ravi (32), both daily wage workers, challenged each other to consume the maximum quantity of alcohol within an hour yesterday.
While Jayaprakash collapsed after consuming eight quarter bottles of brandy, Ravi became unconscious before completing his seventh quarter bottle, police said.
Both of them were immediately rushed to the government hospital by those in the liquor shop. —PTI
