Polling begins for UP third phase

Polling for the third phase of Uttar Pradesh's staggered elections in 56 assembly seats began on Wednesday at 7 am.

The total number of candidates in this phase is 1,018, of whom women candidates number 77.

The political parties contesting in this phase are Bahujan Samaj Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Samajwadi Party and others.

The number of EVMs being used in this phase is 52,602, while the total number of polling stations is 18,374.

The total number of voters is 1,77,91,893.
