Police recovers huge amount of cash from Fiza's Mohali house
A huge amount of cash was recovered by Punjab Police on Thursday from the Mohali residence of Anuradha Bali alias Fiza, the estranged second wife of former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chandermohan, found dead on Monday.
"We recovered the cash and other valuables, including jewellery, that were kept in an almirah," Mohali's DSP, Darshan Singh Mann said.
He said the exact amount of the cash could not be immediately ascertained as counting of the currency notes was on.
The police would also be investigating the source of the money.
On the almirah not being opened all these days after Fiza was found dead in her house, Mann said, "it had been sealed as investigators were collecting vital clues. We did not want any evidence, which may have been in the form of finger prints, etc., to be destroyed".
Meanwhile, police sources said that Fiza, whose death still remains shrouded in mystery, had preserved all the SMS messages sent by Chandermohan on a CD.
The CD containing these SMSs that were exchanged between Fiza and Chandermohan are part of the 50 CDs seized from her Sector 48 C residence in Mohali.
Most of the CDs were of movies, religious and few contained the digitalised messages but nothing objectionable had been found so far, police said.
39-year-old Bali, a former Assistant Advocate General of Haryana, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house in Mohali on Monday.
