UP police fumes as Rahul enjoys meal

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi once again sent the UP police into a tizzy when he walked into a popular restaurant in the state capital unannounced for a meal.
The Congress MP was returning to Delhi from Amethi when instead of heading towards the airport, he made his way into the city and entered the popular Aryan restaurant, located in front of Raj Bhavan.

Mr Gandhi ordered a glass of fresh lime soda and then opted for chicken kathi roll, paneer kathi roll, crispy potatoes, Chicken 65, which is an Aryan speciality, and some other Chinese dishes. He complimented the chef in the visitor’s book and also interacted with other customers.
After staying in the restaurant for about 40 minutes, Mr Gandhi left for the airport.
Mr Rahul Khanna, the owner of Aryan restaurant, was expectedly delighted at the VVIP visit.
“We had no inkling of Mr Gandhi’s visit. I rushed in when my staff informed me and I could not believe my eyes. He was extremely polite and courteous and complimented us on the food,” Mr Khanna later told reporters.
The customers at the restaurant were equally thrilled to find Mr Gandhi in their midst.
“This is the best birthday surprise that I could have ever got. He even agreed to get photographed with me and I am so thrilled,” said Saumya Misra, who was celebrating her birthday with her friends in the restaurant when Mr Gandhi stepped in.
A senior police official, meanwhile, seemed rather exasperated at Mr Gandhi’s unannounced visit to the restaurant. “It seems he is determined to harass the state police with his behaviour. He should stop being a SPG protectee if he is so fond of wandering without information,” the officer said and added that Mr Gandhi’s trips were becoming a serious problem for the state police.
