PMO involved in Games corruption: Gadkari

New Delhi: Some kickbacks in the Rs 70,000 crore works for the Commonwealth Games had been stashed away in Swiss banks, BJP president Nitin Gadkari alleged on Tuesday, and said the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) had monitored many of the controversial deals.

"It is really great, great, great corruption," the Bharatiya Janata Party chief said at a press conference.

Even the Supreme Court had remarked that the Games contracts involved 'unbridled corruption and rampant bungling', Gadkari told reporters.

It was not just the Organising Committee (OC) but the entire cabinet that was responsible for the corruption in the Games, he added.

While the best stadiums in the country had not cost more than Rs 100 crore, it was shocking that the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium had cost Rs 961 crore, the BJP leader said.
