PM stops Gill’s trip after Games
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stopped sports minister M.S. Gill from going on an official trip to Scotland immediately after the Commonwealth Games, well-placed sources said. They indicated this would not have gone down well with people given that a high-level inquiry had been ordered on alleged corruption and irregularities in Games preparations.
The probe by former CAG V.K. Shunglu will cover the role of the sports ministry, among other agencies.
The Prime Minister had earlier stopped Mr Gill making a presentation on the Games at a Cabinet meeting, advising Cabinet colleagues “to act, rather than talk.”
