PM name at right time: Gadkari

In a major snub to Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Nitin Gadkari on Friday lauded his bete noire Sanjay Joshi for his “good work” in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. He also indicated that Mr Modi’s absence in the poll campaigns, including in politically crucial Uttar Pradesh, did not affect the BJP’s prospects.

Mr Gadkari also disapproved of the recent comments made by party’s Pilibhit MP Varun Gandhi and said he has taken “cognisance” of the comments. He also commended saffron sanyasin Uma Bharti for improving party’s poll prospects since her reinduction in the party. Ms Bharti contested Charkhari Assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh and has been actively involved in the poll campaign in the state.
Mr Modi, it was learnt, did not campaign for the party as Mr Joshi, BJP’s former general secretary (organisation), is holding an important position in party’s poll management team.
“Earlier our performance in UP was not that good...we needed somebody to enthuse (our cadre)...Sanjay Joshi’s work (in UP) has been very good,” said the BJP chief in an interaction with women journalists.
Mr Gadkari however, remained evasive when asked whether BJP will project its Prime Ministerial candidate before the 2014 general elections.
“There are a number of leaders (in BJP).. decision will be taken at an appropriate time. Even the Congress has not officially declared when and which candidate will be projected as the prime-ministerial candidate....when it is appropriate time, we will decide within a fraction of second... We are all good faces,” Mr Gadkari replied. On speculations that his tenure will be extended, the BJP chief said, ”I don’t know(about the issue)...but whatever party asks me to do, I will do it.”
On the Karnataka crisis, Mr Gadkari admitted that his party needs to “rectify” the issues of concern in the southern state.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
