Pillai: Shunglu report half-baked
A day after retiring as Union home secretary, Mr G.K. Pillai pointed a finger at the high-profile Shunglu Committee report and described it as “half-baked” and a rush job. Speaking exclusively to this newspaper on Friday, Mr Pillai also revealed that “a decision on the Telangana issue will be taken this month”. The Shunglu Committee was set
up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to probe alleged irregularities in the execution of various projects by several government agencies during the Delhi Commonwealth Games in October last year. The committee has sent its reports to the PMO, and eventually to the concerned ministries, including home affairs.
Meanwhile, on the Telan-gana issue, the former home secretary, referring to the Srikrishna Committee’s recommendations, said: “I expect in July a decision will be taken on the recommendations.” He said the MHA “will be calling an eight-party meet to settle the issue”.
