Photographer gangraped in Mumbai

A photographer with a well-known magazine was gangraped by four-five men in the deserted Shakti Mill Compound at Mahalaxmi in south Mumbai on Thursday evening. She had gone there with a male friend.

The N.M. Joshi Marg police station was informed of the incident by Jaslok Hospital, where the victim is currently admitted. The police has confirmed that the victim is out of danger and that she has provided preliminary information about her assailants. “The victim had gone to the Shakti Mill Compound on an assignment. The mill compound, in itself is practically abandoned and a very unsafe place. A lot of drug addicts and other anti-social elements are known to lurk around there. The police is currently conducting investigations at the spot,” said a senior police officer. The police has detained three- four persons from the mill compound and is questioning them. “The victim is now in the ICU of Jaslok Hospital,” the police said.
