PF interest rate raised to 8.5%

Over 50 million provident fund subscribers will get 8.5 per cent interest for their deposits for 2012-13, higher than 8.25 per cent disbursed in the previous financial year.

After a meeting of the EPFO’s central board of trustees, labour minister Mallikarjun Kharge told reporters: “The board discussed the rate of interest for 2012-13. After detailed discussions, the board decided to recommend a rate of interest of 8.5 per cent for the year.”
