Petrol price hike compulsion: CM
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday defended the petrol price hike, terming it a “compulsion” of the Central government. “There is a price rise, and there is no doubt that it is affecting all of us across the board. But I suppose it was (the hike) due to the central government’s compulsions,” Ms Dikshit told reporters on Friday.
“It is not that the government is not concerned. I think it is something we have to face with determination,” she said. The price of petrol was hiked by `1.80 Thursday night.
Ms Dikshit also met Union urban development minister Kamal Nath and requested him to adopt a “flexible” approach in regularising around 1,600 unauthorised colonies which were given provisional regularisation certificates in 2008.
With municipal polls due in early next year, the government is stepping up efforts to regularise the colonies where around 40 lakh residents are living.
“Issues relating to regularisation of unauthorised colonies figured in the meeting,” sources said.
Various hurdles like finalising the boundary map, layout plans have come up in regularisation of the colonies.
