PC, top US official set to discuss Rana trial
The 26/11 trial in the United States in which US national and LeT operative David Coleman Headley has implicated Pakistan’s spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), for providing support to the LeT in carrying out the 2008 terror attack is expected to find mention in the talks between Union home minister P. Chidam-baram and US
homeland security secretary Janet Napolitano here on May 27.
Ms Napolitano, who arrived in Mumbai Tuesday, is the first dignitary from the US to visit India after President Barack Obama toured the country in November last year. Mr Chidambaram had visited the US in January 2009 when he had discussions with Ms Napolitano.
This will be the first meeting of the homeland security dialogue which is expected to discuss steps for cooperation in counter-terrorism, law enforcement, action against terror groups and monitoring of illicit financial transactions. The security situation in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan after the killing of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden is is also likely to be discussed when they meet here on Wednesday.
