PC: Bengal the worst in governance
Union home minister P. Chidambaram on Sunday launched a scathing attack against West Bengal’s Left Front government, saying West Bengal was the “worst-governed” state in India. The minister, in the state to campaign for Congress candidates, said the Buddhadeb Bhattach-arjee government was to blame for all ills
plaguing Bengal, particularly the “extremely bad” law and order and “precarious” financial situation.
He reiterated his earlier charge that CPI(M) cadres had turned the state into a “killing field”, and added: “For too long we had a government that neglected governance. West Bengal is among the worst-governed states in the country.”
