Party in ‘please-all’ reshuffle
In a please-all exercise ahead of Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress on Friday appointed four vice-presidents and an equal number of general secretaries and 76 secretaries representing all sections in the faction-ridden state unit of the party.
The four vice presidents are Raj Bahadur Lodhi, Raja Pateria, Ramlal Yadav and Batuk Shankar Joshi, while the general secretaries are Vrindavan Ahirwar, Prakash Jain, Chandrika Dwivedi and Kamleshwar Patel.
The announcement was made by party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi.
Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia was made the chairman of the Congress campaign committee for the Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh three days ago, a development seen as his virtual projection as chief ministerial candidate.
Factionalism has been the bane for Congress in Madhya Pradesh where it is out of power for the past ten years.
Party vice-president Rahul Gandhi had been laying great emphasis on party leaders projecting a united face in the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled state.
