Party fiat on Telangana vote
Hyderabad: Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is expecting a direction from the high command to pass a resolution on Telangana in the last week of this month.
If the direction comes, the Assembly will meet in the last week of this month, or else the Chief Minister will hold the Assembly in the first week of October.
During the session, the Congress will move a resolution on Telangana which will be discussed. If the matter is put to vote, Seemandhra Congress MLAs will vote against the resolution and try to defeat it.
Chief Minister informed Seemandhra ministers who met him on Thursday at his camp office to know the latest status of the state’s bifurcation.
The Chief Minister returned to Hyderabad on Wednesday after meeting the Antony Committee in Delhi on Tuesday. Among the ministers who met the Chief Minister were Pitani Satya Narayana, Pinepe Viswaroop, M. Mahidhar Reddy, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Erasu Pratap Reddy among others.
The Chief Minister informed Seemandhra ministers that the high command is in a dilemma over the Hyderabad issue and it is looking at options which will not be acceptable to the Telangana people.
“The Union Home ministry may prepare a note on Telangana without mentioning its capital or status of Hyderabad city and send the note to the state government without clarifying its decision on Hyderabad,” the Chief Minister told the ministers.
The Chief Minister also discussed with the group about his deliberations with the Antony Committee. The Chief Minister said that the Antony Committee asked him for a solution on Hyderabad, but he told the panel that he had already informed the CWC about the problems that would arise before they took a decision on Telangana, but they ignored his report given to the high command and it is now the CWC’s responsibility to resolve the problem. He said AICC president Sonia Gandhi will return from the US on September 16.
The Chief Minister reportedly told the group that there was no need for resignations at this juncture. But some Seemandhra ministers are of the opinion that it is better for all Seemandhra ministers and MLAs to resign now to prevent the Telanga2na resolution from coming to the Assembly.
Meanwhile, ministers Srinivasa Rao and Pratap Reddy are planning to visit Delhi after Monday and meet the high command to exert pressure to change its decision on state division.
