Parliament adjourned till noon, again
New Delhi: Both houses of parliament were adjourned till noon for the 19th day on Wednesday following the opposition's demand for a joint parliamentary committee probe into the 2G spectrum controversy.
Proceedings in the Lok Sabha began with Speaker Meira Kumar expressing condolences at the loss of lives in rains in Tamil Nadu and Tuesday's blast in Varanasi, which killed a two-year-old girl and left over 20 people injured.
The house observed a minute's silence in the memory of those killed.
However, before question hour could commence, opposition MPs gathered near the speaker's podium and started shouting slogans demanding a JPC probe.
Meira Kumar appealed them to let the question hour proceed, but the members were unrelenting. She then adjourned the house till noon.
Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha with the opposition members pressing for their demand for JPC probe. The house was adjourned till noon.
This is the 19th successive sitting of the Lok Sabha when the opposition has forced adjournment of the question hour over this demand. The Rajya Sabha has also seen such adjournments since Nov 10, a day after the winter session of parliament began.
