Panic, chaos follow attack
Chaos and panic prevailed in the walled city on Sunday afternoon as the news of foreigners coming under “terror” attack spread in the area. Curious onlookers and mediamen gathered at the scene, adding to the miseries of the security personnel, who were collecting evidence.
The incident took place at around 11.20 am when a group of Taiwanese nationals, out on a sight seeing trip, came under heavy gunfire from two armed men.
Amidst heavy crowd of onlookers gathering at the spot, a posse of police officials led by senior officials came to conduct their preliminary investigation. The onlookers were seen giving their own description of the area. One of them, who is also a part of the local area security committee, stated that the bikers could run away as the day being a Sunday raining day there was less crowd and most of the shops were closed.
A group of French tourists also visited the area unaware of the incident in the morning and when finding that the Jama Masjid was out of bound for them they left the place. “I have no idea what is happening here. I can not say anything more,” said Mr Vincent, a French tourist. However, they were immediately mobbed by TV crew members who sought to know from them if they felt secure in the city given that a terror attack has taken place with less than a fortnight to go for the Commonwealth Games to which they all stated that they had no comment to make.
