Pak troops breach LoC truce again
Pak troops on Monday night breached truce yet again by resorting to indiscriminate firing on one of the forward posts of India along International Border in Chak Phagwari area of Paragwal sector in Khour block of Akhnoor tehsil in Jammu.
This was the seventh ceasefire violation by Pakistan in succession in the month of July in Jammu region. Since January, over three dozen incidents of ceasefire violation have already taken place both at the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border.
Official sources maintained that Pakistani troops opened heavy arms firing at 9.25 pm at forward post Deora in Paragwal sector on Monday. They also used rockets and mortar shells to target Indian post.
Indian troops deployed there effectively retaliated the fire.
Sources stated that 8 rounds of MMG besides rockets were fired from other side while in retaliation 25 rounds of small arms were fired by Indian troops.
The fire lasted at least 10 minutes though with no casualty on any side.
Notably two BSF jawans were also killed in Pak firing in this sector earlier this month.
Last ceasefire violation of the region had taken place in Krishna Ghati Sector and Jhallas area along LoC in Poonch district on the intervening night of July 15 and 16 when the foreign ministers of Indian and Pakistan were addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad.
Pak troops had targeted at least six forward Indian posts in Poonch that day besides resorting to firing at a forward border outpost at IB in R.S. Pura sector same night.
Indian had lodged a strong protest against it during a flag meeting next day at a forward post in Poonch sector. However Pak officials as usual continued to be in denial mode.
