PAC REPORT ON MINING MAY NOT BE TABLED
The Public Accounts Committee of Goa, led by Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar (BJP), submitted its report on illegal iron ore mining in the coa-stal state to Assembly Speaker Pratap Singh Rane on Wednesday. However, the report,
which accuses CM Digambar Kamat of being a “silent spectator” while the `3,500-crore scam (according to the committee) was underway, might not be tabled in the Assembly in the current session. Mr Kamat has been mines minister for the last 12 years.
Four members of the PAC — three Congress and one Maharastra-wadi Gomantak Party MLAs — refused to sign the report, stating that they needed more time to study it.
