PAC may scrap 2G document
With Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar rejecting the previous Public Account Committee’s (PAC) report on 2G spectrum allocation issue, the newly-constituted panel, which is meeting on Tuesday, is likely to put the controversial document to death.
Senior BJP leader and PAC chairman M.M. Joshi, who was also heading the previous panel, is to table the 2G spectrum report before the new panel. Though both Dr Joshi and his party are in favour of taking up the 2G spectrum issue, sources disclosed UPA members in the panel are all set to block any chance to revive the issue within the parliamentary panel. It could be mentioned that UPA members in the previous panel had severely criticised the report and had rejected the report outright. The last meeting of the previous panel had witnessed stormy scenes when ruling coalition members had alleged that the document was an attempt to malign UPA’s image.
Though the report is not listed in Tuesday’s agenda, Dr Joshi had last week stated that the report will be tabled in the next meeting of the panel.
