Opposition trying to tarnish Oommen Chandy’s image, says Wasnik
Thiruvanathapuram: AICC emissary Mukul wasnik on Tuesday held crucial talks with the state Congress leadership on various issues but refused to divulge any details to the media.
“I cannot reveal the details in connection with the entry of KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala into the UDF cabinet,’’ said wasnik, AICC general secretary in charge of the state, after the talks held at Indira Bhavan.
To another question, wasnik said the allegations levelled against chief minister Oommen Chandy in the solar panel case will be dealt with politically as the opposition has been making baseless allegations against him. He alleged that the opposition was only interested in tarnishing the image of Chandy and Chennithala in the solar panel case.
“The opposition charges are baseless and hollow. The party will fight their allegations politically. Unfortunately, they are following similar strategies in line with the stalling of Parliament procedures,” said Wasnik who has come here after taking charge of the state’s affairs.
Referring to the sex scam involving JD(S) MLA Jose Thettayail, Chennithala said he will respond after knowing the stand of the LDF and JD (S) on the demand for his resignation.
Meanwhile, Nedumangad MLA Palode Ravi handed over a letter to Wasnik saying that the issue of Chennithala’s entry into the cabinet and issues between Congress – NSS have to be settled soon. He claimed that the NSS had hoped for Chennithala becoming a minister in the Chandy government.
