Opposition behaving like 'urchins', says Moily

Chennai: Slamming the Opposition for stalling Parliament proceedings on the 2G spectrum issue, Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily today likened their conduct to that of 'urchins' and termed it as 'undemocratic'.
"It just looks like urchins throwing stones and running away. This cannot be done according to Parliamentary practices," Moily said, adding, the Congress was prepared for a full-scale discussion on the issue.
Accusing the Opposition of running away from their responsibility at the highest forum, he said 'it will not serve well for Parliament'.
"When Parliament session is on, we are open for a debate. The Prime Minister has repeatedly said that we are prepared for a full-scale discussion", he said on the sidelines of a function near here.
"The Opposition has chosen to stone and run away ... stall Parliament. This is undemocratic method. We have nothing to hide and nothing to suppress," Moily told reporters earlier at the airport.
During the SRM University convocation, on a question on the affidavit filed by Prime Minister in the Supreme Court on the spectrum issue, Moily said, "I do not want to comment on any statement. I can say that our government has nothing to hide and suppress".
"We have a Prime Minister of whom we are very proud.He is a great personality. He is also a great scholar and a eminent statesman who has an unimpeachable character. Nobody can question him", he said.
"Those who question him themselves become suspect. Tomorrow they will go down in history for criticising a great personality who has an unimpeachable character," he said.
On the telecast of a news feature against AICC president Sonia Gandhi by a Telugu television channel owned by party MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, he said "I have not seen the report. Unless I have an authentic report, I do not want to comment on it. I do not want to get into controversy."
