Opposition behaving like urchins: Moily
Accusing the Opposition of stalling the Parliament proceedings on the 2G spectrum issue, Union law minister Veerappa Moily said they were behaving “like urchins throwing stones and running away in an undemocratic and unethical manner” instead of facing the government in Parliament.
The Congress was prepared for a fullscale discussion on the spectrum issue but the Opposition was running away from their responsibility of discharging their duty in Parliament, the highest constitutional forum.
“When the Parliament session is on, we are open for a debate. The Prime Minister has repeatedly said that we are prepared for a fullscale discussion,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the sixth convocation of the SRM University here on Sunday.
To a question on the affidavit filed by the Prime Minister in the Supreme Court on the spectrum issue, Mr Moily said, “I don’t want to comment on any statement. I can say that our government has nothing to hide and suppress.”
“We have a Prime Minister of whom we are very proud of. He is a great personality. He is also a great scholar and an eminent statesman who has an unimpeachable character. Nobody can question him,” he said.
“Those who question him themselves become suspects. Tomorrow they will go down in history for criticising a great personality who has an unimpeachable character.”
On the Congress alliance in the state, Mr Moily said the DMK was a valued partner and that AIADMK allegations were only for its survival in Tamil Nadu politics.

This demand that the PM admit his mistake was voiced by senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury on Sunday.
