Oommen Chandy says thanks with goodies
People can now lodge a complaint over the phone, and need not go to police stations, chief minister Oommen Chandy has announced, coinciding with the first anniversary of the UDF government.
Addressing a function in the capital marking the anniversary, he said if the complainant called on 100, local police would come to the complainant’s house and give the receipt for record. This facility can be availed by women, children, tribals, the handicapped and senior citizens.
The council of ministers attended the function, which marked the inauguration of the anniversary celebrations. The CM gave a presentation of the developmental projects on the anvil for the coming year.
Pointing to his council of ministers, he said the unity seen on the stage was proof of the success of his ministry over the last one year.
When he came to power, the widespread concern was the government’s narrow margin. However, with the thumping UDF victory in Piravom bypoll, such concerns gave way to confidence.
Chandy also released the public relation department’s book, ‘Year of Development, Year of Care,’ and also a DVD on the activities of the last one year.
Performances by Mattanur Sankarankutty, his son’s percussion on chenda, and Njeralath Harigovindan’s sopanam music added charm to the first anniversary programme.
