Anti vice squad sleuths busted an online flesh trade racket and arrested a pimp from Delhi who was operating it from a five-star hotel in T Nagar on Thursday.

The man, identified as Jithendra Bandari, 32, always booked rooms in five-star hotels for customers who contacted him over phone, police said.

The accused posted pictures of women claiming that they were prostitutes and solicited men to approach him.

Police, which had kept vigil at the hotel after getting a tip-off, used a decoy posing as customer. Bandari asked the man to bring Rs 25,000.

An AVS team that laid a trap caught the accused when he took the decoy to a room in the five-star hotel.

During the interrogation, the pimp confessed to having carried out a flesh-trade racket from star hotels in Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

In another raid at a hotel on G.N. Chetty Road, police arrested Shanaz, 26, from Kerala for involving a woman in prostitution.

The two accused were produced before a court in Saidapet and remanded to judicial custody.

A senior police officer said that Bandari had booked the hotel claiming to be a businessman and said that the woman was his wife. He offered the woman for prostitution only to high-profile customers.

Interrogations revealed that Bandari was a member of a producer’s council in Delhi and had turned a pimp after suffering a huge loss.

“Bandari had brought the girl from Kolkata after paying a huge sum to the pimp in Kolkata. The majority of the girls who are involved in the flesh trade are brought from Kolkata, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai and Delhi. The accused always booked flights to bring the girls to Chennai,” the officer said.
Police has registered a case under the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act 4 (1).
