Officials protest with birds
Two office bearers landed themselves in trouble in Jaipur when they barged into the district magistrate’s office with two roosters to protest against price rise. They believed that the cock’s doodle doo had powers to awaken the authorities on the issue of price rise.
The administration has ordered a probe for alleged cruelty against the birds and bird lovers have also protested against the same.
The premises of the DM office witnessed a bizarre scene on Friday when a group of protesters led by Rajasthan Youth Front president Narendra Dadhich emerged with two cocks with their legs tied with a rope. The insisted that they be allowed to call on the DM Kuldeep Ranka for submitting a memorandum against price rise.
“We came with roosters to make noise to awaken Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and chief minister Ashok Gehlot against inflation because cock is famous for awakening a person,” says Mr Dadhich. The cock spent almost two hours in captivity of the protesters. It annoyed the bird lovers and they demanded an action against the protesters. “This not the way to tie a bird, it is amounting to cruelty, we demand action,” says an NGO worker.
“We received a complaint in this regard and the probe is going on in view of cruelty against animal law, says Jaipur’s superintendent of police, Jos Mohan.
