Official: No letter from Sachan
A day after agencies probing the murder of deputy CMO Y.S. Sachan found a letter written by him to joint director, family welfare, Rajendra Kumar Singh, the official claimed he had not received any such letter. “I did not receive any such letter written by Dr Y.S. Sachan nor know anything about it,” Mr Singh told reporters here.
“As the letter is not before me I can also not comment whether it is genuine or a fake one or had been written before or after his death,” Mr Singh said. “If he had written any letter it would have come to me through proper channel,” he said, adding that it ought to have been addressed to the director general family welfare.
In a letter written on April 10, while he was taken for remand Dr Sachan had stated that he along with two other accused in the murder case of Lucknow CMO B.P. Singh were forced to sign blank papers.
“Remand par court se laate samay April 8 ko mujhse, Dr C.J. Yadav evam P.C. Verma se saade kagaj par dara dhamka kar sign karwaye hain (After returning from remand on April 8, police has forcibly got my Dr Yadav and Verma’s signatures on blank papers),” Sachan said in the letter in possession with PTI.
The other two accused — Dr C.J. Yadav and Dr P.C. Verma — were also arrested along with Dr Sachan.
“Hame sandeh hai ki iska durupyog nah ho. Agar aisa hota hai to iski puri zimmedari apki evam prashashan ki hogi, (I suspect that this blank paper with signatures could be misused and if it happens you and administration will be responsible,” the letter added. Dr Sachan was found dead under mysterious circumstances on June 22 and a subsequent autopsy confirmed that he was murdered. —PTI
