Obama, too, would like a flatter-platter
Bilateral deals and international issues apart, US President Barack Obama will have an important culinary agenda when he travels to India in November 2010.
He is not only eager to savour the “Hillary Platter” — the dish Bukhara restaurant at ITC’s Maurya hotel in New Delhi created for the secretary of state — he also wants an “Obama Platter” named after him.
Mr Obama is curious to know what is offered on the “Hillary Platter” at Bukhara, Clinton’s favourite restaurant in New Delhi. As Mr Obama greeted guests with a “Namaste” at a reception hosted by Ms Clinton in honour of external affairs minister S. M. Krishna, he wondered, amidst laughter, whether the “Hillary Platter” had a chapati.
“Secretary Clinton, I think, as you may be aware, is a great admirer of India. And I know the sentiment is shared in return,” Mr Obama said in his opening remarks at the reception. —PTI
