NRHM sCAM: CBI seeks 15 CMOs’ prosecution

The CBI, probing alleged irregularities in implementation of the multi-crore National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam in UP, has sought prosecution sanction against 15 chief medical officers (CMOs) of the state in connection with the case.
According to sources the agency has sought prosecution sanction against 15 CMOs from the state health department. “Role of 15 CMOs, posted in several districts in the state, are under the scanner of the agency in connection with its probe related to procurement of essential medicines under the NRHM programme. This is the reason that the agency has sought permission from the state government to initiate probe against these CMOs,” sources said.
“At least 11 CMOs, allegedly close to Babu Singh Kushwaha (former family Welfare minister of the state) may be booked in DA case also. The agency is scrutinising documents in this regard”, sources said. Sources further said, “Probe has also revealed that at least two other CMOs were allegedly close to P.K. Jain (former general manager of Construction and Design Services.
