NRHM scam: CBI collects documents from CMOs
The CBI, probing alleged irregularities in the implementation of the multi-crore National Rural He-alth Mission (NRHM) scam in Uttar Pradesh, has again collected some fresh documents from the offices of several chief medical officers in the state. The agen-cy is set to register a fresh case related to the procurement of essential medicines under the Centrally-sponsored scheme.
According to sources, agency officials recently collected certain documents from the offices of 12 CMOs in the state. “The role of four CMOs, posted in several districts in the state, is under the scanner of the agency in connection with its probe related to the procurement of essential medicines under the NRHM programme. They will soon be called for questioning,” sources said.
“At least two CMOs, allegedly close to Babu Singh Kushwaha (former UP family welfare minister) may be booked in disproportionate assets (DA) cases also. The agency is scrutinising documents in this regard,” sources said.
