No headway in UP minister attack
More than 24 hours after the attack on Uttar Pradesh minister Nand Gopal Nandi in Allahabad, the UP police have failed to make any breakthrough in the case.
[The UP police on Tuesday admitted that one person was killed in the bomb attack on state minister Nand Gopal Gupta while forensic experts scoured the site for evidence to help investigators crack the case, PTI reports.]
No arrests have yet been made though the police have rounded up over a dozen persons owing allegiance to the Dilip Misra gang.
The minister was involved in a property dispute with Dilip Misra, who is presently lodged in jail, and the investigating officers suspect his hand in the incident.
Meanwhile, the injured minister was shifted to the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) late on Monday night.
Chief minister Mayawati met the members of the minister’s family and assured them of all possible help.
She also directed the doctors to take utmost care of the minister.
On Tuesday, the PGI director said that the minister’s condition was now stable. The Indian Express journalist who was also injured in the blast on Monday, remains in a critical condition and is being shifted to the Army hospital while the gunner is likely to be shifted to SGPGIMS in Lucknow.
