MANOJ ANAND
Guwahati
July 12: The Monsoon Session of the Assam Assembly on Monday started on a stormy note with the Opposition forcing adjournment of the House and staging a noisy walkout to corner the state government over Rs 1,000 crores scam of North Cachar Hills district.
The Speaker was forced to adjourn the House as Opposition political parties and independent MLAs demanded discussion on NC Hills scam by adjourning the other business of the day. The ruling Congress party leaders opposed the demand.
The CPI and CPI(M) legislators, who moved a separate adjournment motion on the same subject, also pressed for the adjournment of business.
