No Cabinet meet held as PM unwell due to fever
The meeting of the Union Cabinet that was scheduled to be held on Thursday morning had to be postponed as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was unwell. It is learnt that Dr Singh has been suffering from fever.
The 10.30 am meeting was due to consider several key proposals, including amendments to the Whistleblowers’ Prot-ection Bill, MSP for minor forest produce and disinvestment of the government’s holding in Indian Oil Corporation.
The amendments to the Whistleblowers Protection Bill include keeping out of the proposed law any information that could compromise strategic and economic interests and affect foreign relations. The Cabinet was also likely to consider fixing minimum support prices for 14 products in the category of minor forest produce.
