Nitesh criticised people who praise Modi: Rane
Coming out in support of his son Nitesh Rane over his remarks on the Gujarati community, industries minister Narayan Rane on Monday lambasted home minister R.R. Patil and Mumbai Congress president Janardan Chandurkar for their statements on the issue. He also asked why all the people who praise Narendra Modi’s development so much plan their vacations in the US or in London and not in Gujarat.
“Nitesh criticised the people who praise Mr Modi and not the Gujarati community. But some people twisted the statement deliberately. No member of my family can make such remarks, as we enjoy very cordial relations with Gujaratis,” Mr Rane said addressing a press conference at Mantralaya on Monday.
He termed comments by his son Nitesh as “theek” (alright), adding that they had been distorted. “He only said those who want to hail Modi should go to Gujarat,” the former chief minister said.
He further reiterated the clarification made by Nitesh two days ago. Mr Rane said that the Gujarati community has majorly contributed to the development of Maharashtra and no one can deny this. “But some people are jealous of my position in the Congress party. Further, elections are round the corner, hence comments made by Nitesh were twisted to mislead people,” he said.
