Nine Indians, ship freed by Somali pirates
A Malta-flagged merchant ship ‘MV Sinin’, which was hijacked by Somali pirates in February this year off the coast of Oman, was released on Saturday along with its 21 crewmembers, including nine Indians.
"The ship owners have provided for replenishment of stores and fuel and security for the vessel to reach Colombo by about August 19 where the vessel is likely to be dry docked for extensive inspection," an official statement said here.
The 52,000-tonne bulk carrier vessel was taken over by Somali pirates on February 12 this year, 315 nautical miles off Masirah in Oman when it was on a journey to Singapore from Fujairah.
