Newborn dies, clinic says no acid swab used
In a horrific incident, a newborn baby died after the hospital staff used carbolic acid instead of disinfectant to clean him. His mother also sustained serious burn injuries. The shocking incident of medical negligence occurred in Lalbag sub-divisional hospital in Murshidabad. Shikha Biwi, a housewife gave birth to a baby boy on October 31. She was swabbed with carbolic acid and allegedly so was the newborn. Shikha felt intense burning pain and became unconscious and the baby died on Tuesday.
The hospital authorities tried to hush up the matter. However, it came to light on Wednesday when Shikha’s brother-in-law Wasef Sheikh told a reporter.
Her husband Jannat Sheikh, a labourer, is away in Delhi. The deputy chief medical officer of health, Murshidabad, Dr Birendra Prasad Sao acknowledged that an unfortunate incident had taken place and constituted a probe committee headed by Lalbag hospital superintendent Saswati Bag.

CBI site hacking: proxy servers in latvia, U.S.

Investigations into the CBI website hacking incident have revealed that hackers had targeted it by creating proxy servers in the USA and Latvia. The agency's website was hacked on December 4, 2010 by an unidentified group of hackers who claimed to be Pakistanis. The CBI, which registered a case against the hacking on December 5, 2010, sent "letter rogatories" (LRs) to authorities concerned in the US and Latvia to get details about certain servers and creators of IP addresses. The agency also registered a case against unknown person under the Information Technology Act, 2008.
