New Rajasthan PCC chief before Nov. 2
The state Congress will have a new president within two weeks as the high command has geared up to finalise a name for PCC chief.
The PCC had already referred the matter to the AICC in this regard.
PCC president C.P. Joshi said the announcement will be made before November 2.
M
r Joshi also indicated that he was not in the race of PCC chief as he has been holding other responsibilities. Leaders from the farming community of Jats were eyeing the post but lost the opportunity since they had already got posts in most of the frontal organisations like Sewa Dal and NSUI. Therefore, it is difficult to nominate a Jat leader as PCC chief, said a Congress leader.
According to party sources, the ruling party was trying to strike a balance between the communities.
There are several names under consideration for the post of PCC chief, said sources in the PCC.
Congress MP from Jaipur Mahesh Joshi is the frontrunner along with ruling party MLA Raghu Sharma if the party prefers a Brahmin for the post. Mr Sharma is considered close to Mr Joshi while Jaipur MP Mahesh Joshi is known for his loyalty to chief minister Ashok Gehlot.
The Congress is also contemplating nominating a minority leader as PCC chief and Rajya Sabha MP Ashq Ali’s name is doing the rounds. He is considered close to Mr Gehlot.
