New age row hits SP ‘candidate’
Controversy dogs Amarmani Tripathi, former minister convicted in the Madhumita murder case, who is now in Hardwar jail.
His son Aman Mani Tripathi, Samajwadi nominee from Nautanwa, apparently filed his nomination papers despite not yet being 25, the minimum age to contest elections.
His affidavit claims he’s 29, which wasn’t challenged. But on Tuesday a local newspaper said his old school principal had produced his Class 10 certificate, which shows his date of birth as 15 August 1991. That means he’s only 21, and ineligible.
