Near-stampede as Aamir attends Varanasi wedding

For Ram Lakhan’s son, Rajiv, his wedding on Wednesday was memorable and not only for reasons that every wedding is.
The chief guest at the wedding was none other than Aamir Khan who specially flew down to Varanasi to attend the marriage. The actor’s presence created a near-stampede at the marriage venue and the groom’s family was delirious with joy. “I never dreamt in my life that a superstar will attend my wedding. When we got the information from Aamir’s office on Tuesday that he would come here, we could not believe our ears,” said Rajiv, the groom.
Ram Lakhan, an auto driver in Varanasi, was the one who drove Aamir around the holy city in December 2009 when the actor came to Varanasi for his film’s promotion and moved around in disguise.
Aamir had then promised Ram Lakhan then that he would come down again for his son’s wedding.
Earlier this month, Ram Lakhan went to Mumbai to give the invitation for his son’s wedding to the actor who said that he will attend the wedding.
The news of Aamir attending the wedding attracted huge crowds at the wedding venue, Chaurasia lawns at Mehmoodganj, and also a huge media presence.
