NDFB militants kidnapped techie?
Amidst the suspicion of militants taking the hostage towards the border of Bhutan, the Assam police on Sunday launched a massive combing operation to secure release of 26-year-old Chintala Paidi Raju, an engineer with C&C Construction Ltd, who was abducted by suspected NDFB rebels on Friday night from Baksha district of Assam.
Though, there was no confirmation of any ransom call to the company from abductors, authoritative security sources told this newspaper that outlawed NDFB rebels were found to have been trying to establish a contact with the family members of the abducted engineer. Confirming the involvement of IK Songbijit faction of NDFB, security sources said that some local criminals were used to kidnap the engineer from the firm’s piling site on the bank of Puthimari river under Goreswar police station.
Pointing out that C&C Construction Ltd neither approached police for security nor informed about their operation in remote areas, security sources said that a fresh reminders may be sent to all the private companies operating in remote and vulnerable areas to keep local police informed about their activities. “If necessary we can provide them security,” a senior police officers said informing that government has taken the matter very seriously as it may led to exodus of many private companies.
