NCP slams Lalu, Paswan for alliance
NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar on Wednesday slammed RJD president Lalu Prasad and his LJP counterpart Ram Vilas Paswan of entering into "an alliance bereft of ideology and policy" and said it had further exposed the duo before the masses.
"It is an alliance bereft of ideology and policy... The alliance has been sewn up only for the purpose of grabbing power... The two stand exposed before the masses further,” Anwar told reporters here.
Castigating Mr Paswan for projecting Lalu Prasad as the alliance's chief ministerial nominee and his own brother Pashupati Kumar Paras as its candidate for deputy chief minister, Anwar alleged that it had brought to the fore the fact that Paswan's “love for Muslims is a lust for power for his brother”.
He recalled that it was the same Paswan who had refused to extend support to the RJD for forming the government in 2005 because he had desired installation of a Muslim as chief minister.
"People of the state are closely watching the development, nothing more than opportunism, and have decided to teach the two a lesson," he said.
Lalu and Paswan had on Monday announced a seat-sharing accord between the two parties under which the LJP would be contesting from 75 seats, while RJD would contest the rest of 243 assembly seats in Bihar in the elections due towards end of 2010.
