NCP MLA Dilip Wagh, accused of raping a girl in Nashik district, was detained in Mumbai, a police officer said.
Earlier on Saturday, the NCP suspended its legislator Dilip Wagh, who has been booked for allegedly raping a girl. The decision to suspend Wagh was announced by the party’s state president Madhukar Pichad.
The Nashik police registered a complaint against Mr Wagh and his assistant, after a girl alleged that they had raped her. “Wagh has been suspended from the party, as the inquiry has been initiated against him for charges of rape,” Mr Pichad informed.
