Naxals strike for 3rd day, kill 3
Three CRPF jawans were killed and as many injured when Maoist guerrillas carried out another ambush on a patrol party at Bhejji in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Saturday morning.
The police claims to have gunned down at least 10 Naxals in retaliatory attacks.
This was the third major attack on security personnel by Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region in the last 50 hours.
According to the police, nearly 150 ultras attacked the patrol party, about 100 metres from the Bhejji police station-cum-CRPF camp, when it was inspecting an under-construction barrack for the troopers of the Central paramilitary force. The 2nd battalion of the CRPF has set up a temporary camp at the Bhejji police station and the barrack is being constructed for shifting the camp there.
“The CRPF patrol party was ambushed by a group of ultras at around 7.30 am. While three CRPF jawans were killed, as many sustained bullet injuries in the incident. The injured have been airlifted to Raipur for treatment,” ADG (anti-Naxal operation) Ram Niwas told this newspaper.

June 11: Chhattisgarh director-general police (DGP) Vishwa Ranjan has said that the Naxals have acquired technology to trigger landmine blasts in the night. “The Naxals used to carry out landmine blasts during daytime. Now they appeared to have gained access to technology to trigger a landmine blast at night. It is evident from their ambush on a patrol party at Katekalyan in Dantewada district late on Thursday night, in which they blew up an anti-landmine vehicle by triggering a landmine blast.
