Raipur, Dec. 18: The Maoist movement has considerably weakened in the country following recent arrests and killing of some of top rebel leaders, a document prepared for internal circulation among the core group of leaders has indicated.
This newspaper got access to the document, believed to be an assessment in the wake of the Operation Greenhunt. “The strength of the central committee of CPI (Maoist) has reduced from 40 to 26 following arrest of a dozen members and killing of the rest in encounters,” said the report, which termed the killing of Azad by the AP police as a severe blow.
