Nath, PC hold talks with BJP leaders
After Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s efforts to resolve the stand-off between the government and main Opposition failed, it was finally resolved on Wednesday after two rounds of meeting between government representatives and the main Opposition. Finance minister P. Chidambaram and parliamentary affairs minister Kamal Nath held discussions with top BJP leaders L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley on Wednesday. It was decided that to break the impasse a discussion on missing coal files issue would be taken up in both Houses of Parliament. The PM had met senior BJP leaders — L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley last night on the issue but the party gave no assurance after maintaining that it would discuss the issue with its MPs.
Sources disclosed at the meeting, the ministers asked BJP to allow proceedings in the two Houses so that important legislative business could be taken up.
